Christian "Chris" Stenner (born June 17, 1971 in Mainz ) is a German animator and graphic designer.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1991, Stenner went to Kenmare , Ireland, for three years . He then studied ethnology, philosophy and English at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz , but dropped out. He began to be interested in animation at the age of 25 and enrolled at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy in 1998 . With Arvid Uibel (1976-2000) he created the short film Mann im Mond in the first year of his studies . At the end of 1999, both of them started working on the partially computer-animated stop-motion short film Das Rad with Heidi Wittlinger as part of their studies . They worked with a frame grabber that they only had available for six weeks and therefore animated the film alternately in shifts. When the film was about to go into post-production, Uibel died unexpectedly. Stenner and Wittlinger decided after several months to finish the film. They dedicated it to Uibel with the line “for Arvid”. The bike was completed in May 2001. Stenner and Wittlinger were nominated for an Oscar in the category " Best Animated Short Film " for the film.

Stenner finished his studies in 2004. He works as a freelance animator and graphic designer for Trixter and Pixomondo, among others.
