Life

After graduating from high school at Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium Nagold, Heidi Wittlinger completed internships in Nagold , Stuttgart and in Binyamina, Israel in 1997 . From October 1998 she studied animation at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy . With Arvid Uibel (1976-2000) and Chris Stenner , she began working on the partially computer-animated stop-motion short film Das Rad as part of her studies at the end of 1999 . They worked with a frame grabber that they only had available for six weeks and therefore animated the film alternately in shifts. When the film was about to go into post-production, Uibel died unexpectedly. Stenner and Wittlinger decided after several months to finish the film. They dedicated it to Uibel with the line “for Arvid”. The bike was completed in May 2001. Stenner and Wittlinger were nominated for an Oscar in the category " Best Animated Short Film " for the film.

Wittlinger finished her studies in 2004. She then worked as a director at Studio Aka in London and is now a freelance designer , illustrator and animator. Among other things, she created the character Oki in the children's film The Miracle of Loch Ness for Trixter . She created the successful apps Kleiner Fuchs Kinderlieder and Schlaf gut with Shape Minds Berlin. Sleep well was also published as a picture book in 2012.

Wittlinger is married to the politician, publicist and advertising expert Sebastian Turner . The couple have three children together and a son from Turner's first marriage .
