Career

Anagnostou began playing football at Düsseldorf SFD '75, which he left for the better-known Fortuna Düsseldorf club . At the age of 19 he joined the second team of Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach and worked his way up to the first squad. Here he played twelve Bundesliga games (no goal; as of July 17, 2007) and was then signed by the regional league team Sportfreunde Siegen , for which he played for two and a half years. For the 2002/2003 season he moved to Wilhelmshaven for a year . Then he came to the then second division promoted SSV Jahn Regensburg , for whom he only completed a single league game. In the following years, Anagnostou did not return to professional football. He played for KFC Uerdingen 05 in the Regionalliga and Oberliga and for SG Wattenscheid 09 also in the Regionalliga . After a year break from football, Anagnostou came to the national league at VfR Fischeln in 2007 . There he played until the end of the 2008/09 season and worked at VfR as an assistant coach in the 2009/10 season. For the 2010/11 season he was reactivated as a player, but had to end his career in January 2011 because of knee problems.
