Christa Schmidt (writer)

Christa Schmidt (born December 11, 1959 in Duisburg ) is a German writer .

Life

Christa Schmidt worked as a journalist in Frankfurt am Main . In 1980 she moved to Berlin , where she worked for the press and radio . From August 1981 onwards, she began training as a photographer at the Lette School in Berlin for about a year, which she broke off in favor of the “ taz ”. From 1982 to 1985 she was part of the culture section of the “taz”. After stays in Greece and Spain , she has lived as a freelance writer in Berlin since 1986 .

Christa Schmidt is the author of novels , short stories and radio plays .

Christa Schmidt is a member of the PEN Center Germany . 1994 and 2001 she received a working grant of the Berlin Senate for Berlin writer, 1995, a grant from the German Literature Fund .
