Christel Steitz

Christel Steitz (born October 9, 1939 in Friedberg ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Profession and Politics

Steitz comes from an 18 hectare farm in Hessen. After three years of school and two years of practical training, as well as specialist training in housekeeping, she passed the housekeeping exam in 1960 . In the same year, she started working the Feilbacherhof in Websweiler with her husband Helmut, with whom she has a son and two daughters (fodder production, dairy farming). Her father-in-law was the former President of the Chamber of Agriculture for Saarland Hermann Steitz .

Since 1970 she has been involved in the rural women movement . In 1973 she was elected to the board of the Saar Rural Women's Association , in 1975 she became its chairman; she held the chairmanship until 1990. The German Landfrauenverband whose headquarters she belonged since 1982, she recorded in 1985 with the Golden Bee from.

She was a member of the CDU parliamentary group in the Saarland state parliament during the tenth and eleventh legislative periods (1990–1999). Today Christel Steitz is the senior representative of the city of Homburg and chairwoman of the senior advisory council there.
