Location of Websweiler in Saarland |
Websweiler (in the local dialect Webbswiller ) is a district of Jägersburg , which in turn is a district of the Saar-Palatinate district town of Homburg in Saarland . The place is between Altbreitenfelderhof and Höchen on the Höcherberg .
history
The first historical traces were found in Websweiler from Roman times . At that time there was probably a villa rustica near the courtyard . In the 12th century monks settled in what is now Websweiler. A document from 1152 shows a branch of the Wadgassen monastery in "Woppenswilre" (Websweiler). The farm probably burned down completely around 1635, but is mentioned again in 1702.
In 1895, a “colony” for miners from the Frankenholz and Nordfeld pits was established on 100 hectares of the estate . In the vernacular of the neighboring towns, the word "colony" for Websweiler has survived to this day. After the Second World War, mainly miners from the neighboring Frankenholz pit settled in the "colony" of Websweiler, which resulted in an increase in the number of inhabitants.
societies
There is a shooting club and two darts clubs, the DC Websweiler and Freie Darter 1990 eV, the latter playing in the DSAB Südwest-Liga.
