Wörschweiler (in the local dialect Werschwiller ) is a district of the Saarland district town of Homburg in the Saarpfalz district . Until the end of 1973, Wörschweiler was an independent municipality in the district of Sankt Ingbert , which today has the status of a municipality with its own mayor and local councilors, who only support the city council in an advisory capacity.

Wörschweiler is about 4 km southwest of Homburg in the valley of the Blies at an altitude of 227 m above sea level. NHN . Neighboring towns are Bierbach , Schwarzenacker , Beeden and Limbach . The place is affected by the Autobahn 8 .
history
Wörschweiler was first mentioned in history in 1131. At that time, the Wörschweiler Monastery was established , a foundation of the Count of Saar Werden . The remains of the Cistercian abbey and the ruins of its Gothic church are still today at 315 m above sea level. NHN high monastery mountain received.
As part of the regional and administrative reform in Saarland , the previously independent municipality of Wörschweiler was assigned to the district town of Homburg on January 1, 1974 and has been a district and a municipality since then.
