Christian-Friedrich Vahl

Christian-Friedrich Vahl (* 1955 in Zeven ) is a German heart surgeon . He is the director of the Clinic for Cardiac, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz .

biography

Christian-Friedrich Vahl studied medicine, art history, philosophy and sociology. He studied medicine from 1975 to 1981 at the University Hospital Göttingen and the University Hospital Heidelberg . He was a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation . 1979 to 1981 Vahl was for a year of study at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid . In 1986 he was promoted to Dr. med is doing his doctorate. From 1981–84 he did basic scientific training at the Institute for Physiology at the University of Hamburg . He then completed clinical training at the German Heart Center in Munich and at the Augsburg Clinic . There he worked on the "Quality Assurance in Cardiac Surgery" project. In 1988 he moved to Heidelberg University Hospital , where he completed his habilitation in 1995. Since 2004, he has been Director of the Clinic for Cardiac, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery at the University Medical Center of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz . In 2002 he was appointed to an extraordinary professorship at the University of Heidelberg .
