Christian A. Pohl

Christian A. Pohl (born May 8, 1975 in Stuttgart ) is a German pianist , piano teacher and author . As a professor of piano and piano methodology, he teaches at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig .

Life

Pohl completed his music studies at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg in piano with Felix Gottlieb, in instrumental pedagogy with Anselm Ernst and in piano methodology with Betty Vergara-Pink. Before studying, he attended the Georgii grammar school in Esslingen am Neckar and took the C-exam at the Catholic University for Church Music in Rottenburg .

Concerts and master classes have taken him to Spain , France , the Czech Republic , Egypt , China , Japan and Switzerland . He gives concerts as a soloist as well as chamber music and song design. His chamber music partners included Felix Gottlieb, Aitzol Ituriagagoitia, Elsa Grether, Christoph Henkel , Daishin Kashimoto, Phillip Roy as well as members of the Staatskapelle Dresden and the Vienna Philharmonic .

In 1990 Pohl began teaching privately and later as an institution. From 2001 to 2009 he taught at the University of Music in Freiburg and from 2002 to 2008 at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart .

He leads advanced training events, gives lectures and lectures at master classes in Germany and abroad. He also worked as a juror at Jugend musiziert or the Bach Competition in Koethen . A particular focus of work is the development of a systematic piano methodology. In 2009 Pohl was appointed professor for piano and piano methodology at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music and Theater in Leipzig . There he leads an international piano class and piano methodology training.

In 2000 and 2005 he co-founded the International Piano Academy Murrhardt and the International Chamber Music Academy Gengenbach . From 2005 to 2009 he directed the Stubenhaus Concerts in Staufen . During this time he professionalized the concert series and organized over 30 concerts. In 2009 he founded the Lörrach Piano Course , a seminar for pianists and piano teachers, in which he teaches the learning system he has developed. In 2011 he initiated the "Leipzig Piano Methodology Seminars" and has been director of the "International Mendelssohn Academy Leipzig" since 2012 (together with Prof. Gerald Fauth ).

In 2013 and 2014 he gave courses in Tokyo , Zaragoza , Madrid , Munich , Leipzig, Hanover , Zwickau , Stuttgart and Chemnitz, among others .

In 2014 he was nominated for the "Saxon Teaching Prize" announced by the Saxon State Ministry for Science and Art .

He has been a member of the Senate since 2014 and has been the Dean of Studies for the piano department at HMT Leipzig since 2015.
