Oil painting by Ahrbeck, 1845
Born at the time of the Electorate of Hanover and still during the personal union between Great Britain and Hanover , little is known about the work and work of Christian Ahrbeck. He was born the son of a distiller in Hanover and was "probably a student of Isabey ". However, there are conjectures that Ahrbeck was not only Isabey's pupil, but also his assistant, whom he relieved with a large number of commissioned work - also as duplicates.
Ahrbeck was not only active in Hanover, Vienna (1813) and Poland , but was also in the service of Napoleon I in France during the so-called " French era " , where he made around 80 miniatures, including a portrait of his second wife Napoleon's Marie-Louise of Austria with a headdress.
At the time of the Kingdom of Hanover , Ahrbeck joined the Johannis Masonic Lodge on March 17, 1817 for the Black Bear .
