Christian Andreas Siber (also: Sieber ; born November 15, 1662 in Schandau ; † January 31, 1704 in Tennstedt ) was a German educator and Lutheran theologian.

Life

The son of the pastor and poet Justus Sieber and his wife Catharina, daughter of the Dresden mayor Paul Zinck, attended the electoral state school St. Afra in Meißen from 1677 under the rectorate of Johann Georg Wilke . On April 23, 1681 he moved to the University of Wittenberg , where he attended the lectures of Konrad Samuel Schurzfleisch and Balthasar Stolberg and completed theological and philosophical studies.

After he had become a master's degree in philosophy on April 27, 1682 and had held various dissertations, he became court master of Baron Maximillian Ludwig Freiherr von Regal in Regensburg . In 1686 he became rector of the electoral Saxon state school in Grimma . Since he could not assert himself in this office, he took over a pastor's office at Hohnstein Castle after two years . In Wittenberg, he therefore obtained his licentiate in theology on July 8, 1691 with the dissertation Lectiones contra Richardum Simonium . Afterwards he stayed with some Jews in Prague to improve his knowledge of the Hebrew language.

Soon he was inspector of the superintendent offices of Weißensee, Sangerhausen and Langensalza in Tennstedt . For this he received his doctorate in theology on July 26, 1694 in Wittenberg. An accident that dislocated his thigh resulted in his death. His widow married Dr. Meerheim, his only daughter married the deacon in Schlieben M. Johann Adam Calo. His extensive library was sold to Professor Johann Andreas Danz (1664–1727) in Jena.
