Christian Johannes Bonath (* 1979 in Worms ) is a German choir director of the Capella vocalis Reutlingen and the Ensemble Paulinum as well as conductor of the baroque orchestra Pulchra musica and guest conductor of the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen .

Life

The study of church music at the Saar University of Music in Saarbrücken and the Mainz University of Music was followed by studies at the Hanover University of Music, Theater and Media (church music and conducting) from 2006 to 2008 . Mathias Breitschaft , Wolfram Koloseus and Frank Löhr (pianist) were among his formative teachers . He owes important suggestions to the conductors Ralf Otto , Manfred Cordes , Eiji Ōue and Max Pommer .

Organ improvisation (glorious rosary)

On his initiative the Vokalquartett an St. Paulus was founded in 2002 and the Ensemble Paulinum and the Barockorchester Pulchra musica in 2008 , of which he is musical director to this day. After his artistic A-exam, he was appointed choirmaster of the Gütersloh boys' choir in 2009. Since August 1, 2012, Bonath has been the artistic director of the boys' choir capella vocalis from Reutlingen. At the University of Music in Mainz at the Johannes Gutenberg University, Bonath has been teaching music composition, ear training and music theory since 2012.

As a specialist in early music, Bonath can be seen regularly as an interviewee in the media, for example with contributions to the cantatas by Graupner, von Telemann or von Mattheson. A portrait of his work in the SWR music magazine Cluster honors his diverse commitment.

Since 2015, in cooperation with SWR 2, recordings by Graupner, Telemann, Mattheson and Sheriff have been made for the first time in 5 CD projects under Bonath conduct. For ZDF, Bonath introduced Haydn's organ solo mass for TV recordings, as well as with DW, DLF and Bennoverlag.
