Christian Brockmann

Christian Brockmann (born May 25, 1960 in Bremen ) is a German classical philologist and medical historian .

Life

Brockmann began studying Latin and Philosophy in 1978 at the University of Kiel . In 1979 he moved to the University of Göttingen and took up Greek as a third subject; In 1982 he moved to the Free University of Berlin , where he passed the first state examination in 1986. From 1986 to 1991 he worked as a research assistant at the Department of Middle Latin Philology at the Free University of Berlin and did his doctorate (from 1986 to 1988 as a scholarship holder of the university), which he achieved in 1990. His dissertation, The Handwritten Tradition of Plato's Symposium , was awarded the Ernst Reuter Prize in 1991 and was published in 1993.

After receiving his doctorate, Brockmann worked as a research assistant at the Department of Classical Philology and in the Aristotle Archive of the Free University of Berlin until 1997. In 1997 he received a habilitation grant from the German Research Foundation (until 2001). After substitute semesters at Rice University (2000) and at the University of Hamburg , Brockmann completed his habilitation in 2002 with the font Aristophanes and the freedom of comedy at the Free University of Berlin and became a research assistant at the Corpus Medicorum Graecorum / Latinorum of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences . From 2005 to 2007 he was the company's job manager. In December 2007 he accepted a professorship for Greek Studies at the University of Hamburg.
