Christian Bussmann

Christian Bussmann (* 12. February 1942 in the German Reich ) is a German art director , stage and Production Designer .

Live and act

Bussmann studied painting and art history and received training as a set designer. He has been working in the fields of film architecture, production design (television) and stage design, but also as a costume designer since 1963. He often worked with Hamburg-based directors such as Ottokar Runze , Hark Bohm and Hans-Christoph Blumenberg , whose 80s cinema productions Thousand Eyes , The Summer of the Samurai and The Madonna Man he outfitted.

In the television adaptation of William Shakespeare's play King Richard II , the 25-year-old Bussmann was allowed to design buildings for a filmed production at the side of master Jörg Zimmermann for the first time, but he was only able to work regularly as a TV set designer ten years later. For many years he split his work between television and cinema and was occasionally involved in production designs for series such as The Pawlaks, Everything but Murder and Heartbeat - The North Medical Team . The 70-year-old Bussmann ended his career as a film and television set designer and architect with the television film Die Räuber , shot in 2012 .
