Christian Edward Dailly (born October 23, 1973 in Dundee , Scotland ) is a former Scottish football player.

Club career

Dailly began his professional career at the age of 16 with the Scottish first division club Dundee United . The defender moved to Derby County in England after his first professional contract was ended . He later played for Blackburn Rovers and West Ham United . He led West Ham United back to the Premier League from the First Division in the 2004/05 season . In early 2008 he moved to the Glasgow Rangers . After his contract with the Rangers, Dailly signed with Charlton Athletic in Football League One . On his debut for Charlton on August 8, 2009, he scored his first goal for his new club after a corner.

National team

He played a total of 34 games for the Scottish U-21 selection , which he set a world record in this regard. Christian Dailly made his debut for the Scottish national football team in May 27, 1997 in the 1-0 defeat by Wales . The defender qualified for the 1998 World Cup with Scotland . The Scots failed with just one point in the group stage of the World Cup. In twelve games Dailly also ran as the captain of the Scottish selection. He scored six goals in 67 international matches for Scotland.
