Christian Daniel Anderson (born April 26, 1753 in Hamburg ; † March 29, 1826 there ) was a German lawyer and historian.

Life

Christian Daniel Anderson was the son of the Hamburg mayor Johann Anderson junior (1717–1790) and grandson of the mayor Johann Anderson .

He studied law in Leipzig and Göttingen . In Göttingen he was awarded Dr. jur. doctorate, then he settled in Hamburg as a lawyer. In 1789 he received the position of Council Secretary and was responsible for keeping the city, heritage and pension books of the Hanseatic city. In 1809 he became the first council secretary ( Protonotar ). He held this position until his death. Anderson's importance lies in his work as a legal historian.

He first published the Hamburg civil law on the basis of the Hamburg city law of 1605. Then he published two collections of Hamburg ordinances. The first with the ordinances up to the incorporation of Hamburg into the French Empire during the Hamburg French era . It closes with the imprint of the Hamburg Burspraken in the 8th volume. The second begins in 1814 with the liberation of Hamburg and was led by him until his death in 1826; Johann Martin Lappenberg continued this work.
