Christian Danz

Christian Danz (* 1962 in Pößneck ) is a German - Austrian Protestant theologian .

Live and act

Danz studied Protestant theology at the University of Jena from 1985 to 1990 . He then worked as a vicar at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thuringia . In 1994 Danz received his doctorate as Dr. theol . In 1999 he completed his habilitation in systematic theology at the University of Jena. Since the summer semester of 2002, Danz has been teaching as professor for systematic theology AB at the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the University of Vienna .

Research priorities

Danz is primarily concerned with dogmatic (especially the doctrine of God , Christology , pneumatology ), ethical and fundamental theological issues. Another focus is the history of theology in the 19th and 20th centuries. He is also co-editor of the works of FWJ Schelling .

Danz sees religion as "an execution-bound, situation-related interpretation of reality". "The enforcement obligation of religion explains first of all that there is a participant and an outside perspective on religion that are not congruent."
