Christian Dollberg (born November 3, 1971 in Buenos Aires , Argentina ) is a former Argentine soccer player.

The Argentine of German descent - his grandparents were in Cologne born - began his football career in Argentina with Argentinos Juniors and Club Atlético Lanús and moved to the 1995/96 season for Bundesliga club 1. FC Köln . FC coach Morten Olsen had come to South America to try to find defender Roberto Trotta , instead of him he signed Dollberg, who also had German citizenship and therefore did not fall under the foreign national limit in the Bundesliga. In Cologne, the defender was announced with great praise and made his debut for FC on July 16, 1995 in the UI Cup match against Rudar Velenje . After two match days of the season and the elimination from the DFB Cup , coach Olsen was dismissed and his successor Stephan Engels switched from area coverage to man coverage , which Dollberg claims to be unable to cope with. He made his last appearance in the FC jersey on November 18, 1995 when he came on as a substitute for Eintracht Frankfurt . In the German press, Dollberg, who symbolized the badly disappointing start of the season for FC, was described as the “only South American without a feel for the ball”. At the end of the season he left the billy goats for Argentina. To this day, it is considered by FC fans to be a prime example of an expensive, well-announced bad purchase.

In his home country he played for Boca Juniors and was there regularly in the second half of 1996. After a protracted injury, he went to the Greek professional club PAOK Saloniki for another year three years later . Soon after his return to Argentina, he ended his career in 2001. He then opened a German bakery in Villa Ballester near Buenos Aires. He has now returned to the football business and is currently (2012) working as a coach in the Argentine third division.
