Christian Füller (politician)

Christian Füller (born June 24, 1977 in Judenburg ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). He was a member of the Austrian National Council between 2006 and 2008 and a member of the Federal Council from 2010 to 2015 . From July 10 to December 31, 2013, he was also the executive chairman of the SPÖ parliamentary group.

education and profession

Christian Füller attended elementary school between 1983 and 1987 and then the secondary school in Weißkirchen in Styria until 1991 . Subsequently, Füller graduated from the Fohnsdorf Housekeeping School by 1992 and then learned to be a pastry chef . After completing his apprenticeship in 1995, Füller worked as a pastry chef and did his military service in 1997/98. In 1998 Füller gave up his job as a confectioner and switched to AT & S Fohnsdorf, where he worked until 2004.

Political career

Christian Füller is a member of the SPÖ Judenburg's city party executive (since 1997), a member of the city party presidium (since 1999), a member of the district party executive (since 1998) and a member of the district party presidium (since 2003). Since 2000 he has represented the SPÖ in the Judenburg municipal council and has also been very involved in the young generation of the SPÖ in Styria. Between 1998 and 2007 he was city chairman and between 1998 and 2007 district chairman of the young generation. From 2004 to 2008 he is their country manager. In 2004 he was co-opted into the state party executive and was district party chairman of the SPÖ Judenburg from 2007 to 2014. Since June 24, 2014 he has been the deputy chairman of the regional organization SPÖ Obersteiermark West.

Christian Füller represented the SPÖ in the Austrian National Council from October 30, 2006. He received a mandate from constituency 6H (Styria West) and represented the SPÖ in the XXIII. Legislative period in the parliamentary committees on immunity, consumer protection, human rights, buildings and the family. After the SPÖ's losses in the National Council election in 2008, Füller lost his mandate and resigned from the National Council on October 27, 2008.

According to his own statements, the focus of his work was the representation of the population of his constituency, the fight against emigration from the districts of Murau and Judenburg and Knittelfeld (today: Murtal ) as well as politics for the "weaker" in society.

Füller was sworn in for the first time on October 21, 2010 as a member of the Federal Council sent by the Styrian state parliament and from March 12, 2013 he was deputy parliamentary group chairman of the SPÖ parliamentary group. During his time in the Federal Council, he was also the chairman of the justice committee and area spokesman for home affairs and justice. After the state elections in Styria in 2015 , Christian Füller resigned from the Federal Council on June 15, 2015.
