Christian Ferdinand Siemens (born July 31, 1787 in Wasserleben , † January 16, 1840 in Menzendorf ) was a farmer and landlord from the Siemens family . He was the father of Werner Siemens , the founder of the global Siemens AG .

origin

Siemens came from the old 1384 documentary mentioned Goslar City Gender Siemens , the Siemens house in Goslar their ancestral home. At the beginning of the 17th century , the family had grown from farmers and respected master craftsmen who held leading positions in Goslar guilds to merchants, land tenants and educated citizens and provided the imperial city with four mayors. Christian Ferdinand's father Johann Georg Heinrich Siemens (1735–1805) was also a farmer and landlord (from 1762 to 1792 of the Grote 's estate in Schauen and from 1777 to 1805 also of the Stolberg- Wernigerode'schen economic office in Wasserleben).

Life

Christian Ferdinand was the youngest of 15 children. He studied agriculture for a few semesters at the University of Göttingen and was a highly educated man with varied interests. In 1812 he married Eleonore Deichmann (* 1792 in Lenthe; † July 8, 1839 in Menzendorf), daughter of Ludwig August Deichmann, bailiff of Poggenhagen . Her marriage to Eleonore Deichmann had 14 children, ten of whom reached adulthood, including the sons Werner Siemens (1816–1892), Hans Siemens (1818–1867), Carl Wilhelm Siemens (1823–1883), Friedrich Siemens (1826) –1904) and Carl Heinrich Siemens (1829–1906).

Initially, Siemens was the tenant of the upper estate in Lenthe near Hanover . Affected by the agricultural crisis of 1818 to 1825, the family took over the Menzendorf domain in 1823 , which belonged to Mecklenburg-Strelitz in the Ratzeburg region . But here, too, unexpected blows of fate occurred. In the upscale educated class attributable family a liberal Protestant spirit prevailed. The tight financial situation, however, did not allow the children to attend formal schooling. Christian Ferdinand Siemens, for example, taught his son Werner himself for six months from 1823 onwards. Christian Ferdinand Siemens' sons acquired extensive technical knowledge even without higher education or studies. Werner Siemens founded in 1847 together with Johann Georg Halske in Berlin , the Siemens & Halske AG , later, many of his brothers cooperated in conducting.

After the death of his mother in July 1839 and his father in January 1840, Werner, the eldest son, had to take over the father's position for his many younger siblings.
