Christian Fries (* 1959 in Duisburg ) is a German actor , director , musician and author .

Life

Christian Fries studied philosophy at the University of Cologne until 1988 , piano at the Düsseldorf Music Academy and drama at the Berlin University of the Arts . This was followed by engagements at the Burgtheater in Vienna (1988–1991), in Münster, Konstanz and Mainz. As a director he staged at city theaters, in the independent scene and for the Bremen Shakespeare Company.

Christian Fries has been working as an actor and director in the ensemble of the Stadttheater Gießen since the 2005/06 season . Among other things, he directed “Auf dem Land” by Martin Crimp , “ I hired a contract killer ” based on the film by Aki Kaurismäki and Goethe's Torquato Tasso .

In June 2010 he was one of fourteen authors to take part in the 34th Days of German-Language Literature , the Ingeborg Bachmann Competition in Klagenfurt. It was nominated by the Viennese cultural journalist and juror Paul Jandl .

Awards

For his acting work Fries received the sponsorship award of the "Theaterfreunde Münster". In 2002 he received the promotion award of the Theaterzwang festival for the production of Franz Kafka'sThe building - or: Most of the time, the one you are looking for lives next door”.
