Christian Gottlieb Berger (clergyman)

Christian Gottlieb Berger (born December 20, 1764 in Geithain , † February 24, 1829 in Eisleben ) was a German Protestant clergyman.

Life

Christian Gottlieb Berger was born in Geithain as the son of the businessman Johann Berger.

At the age of 15, Christian Gottlieb Berger came to the Fürstenschule Grimma in 1779 , which he attended until 1785, after which he went to the University of Leipzig , where he trained as a practical theologian. During this time he got a job with superintendent Johann Georg Rosenmüller as a tutor for his sons. In February 1794, he was in Leipzig , the master's degree and became pastor in 1796 Trachenau in Borna ; In 1805 he came to Wippra near Eisleben as a pastor and in 1809 he became archdeacon in the Church of St. Andreas in Eisleben, and in 1810 he became superintendent there, a position he held until his death.

At a time that can no longer be determined, he received his doctorate as Dr. phil.

He wrote some botanical writings and published them.

He was married to Johanna Regina, geb. Jordan, from Leipzig. Together they had eight children, of whom two sons and two daughters are known by name:

  • Johanna Auguste Berger (born January 31, 1806 in Wippra; † unknown);
  • Juliane Anna Berger (born December 19, 1807 in Wippra; † unknown);
  • Hermann Berger (born July 4, 1808 in Eisleben; † July 1, 1860), pastor in Gehren .
