Wippra is a village in the town of Sangerhausen in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz in Saxony-Anhalt , Germany. It is a state-approved resort .
geography
Wippra is located on the southeastern edge of the Harz, about 13 km north of Sangerhausen, at an altitude of about 320 m. The place is in the valley of the Wipper flowing through Wippra and is surrounded by dense forests. However, the forest was not always as dense as it is today, as the Mansfeld copper slate mining required large quantities of wood both for the construction of tunnels and for the smelting process.
About seven kilometers outside of the village, deep in the Wippertal, is the Wippra dam . It was built from 1951 to 1952 and holds a maximum of 2 million m³ of water. The dam is around 20 m high and 126 m wide.

A special building is the St. Mary's Church, a baroque plastered building from the 18th century, in the church tower there are two 700 year old bells with Gothic characters. The St. Mary's Church also has a carved St. Mary's altar, this (late Gothic winged altar) dates from around the year 1480. The rectory built around 1640, which was renovated in 1998, is also worth seeing. Equally remarkable is the Schieferhof, a 650-year-old half-timbered building. In Wippra you can also find the Hasselbachschanze (43-meter hill) and a small forest pool at the western end of the village .
In the center of the village is the brewery, which has been brewing for 500 years. Under Count Vollrad von Mansfeld, the brewery was built in 1480 at the current location. After a long break, it has been in operation again since March 2004.
