Breitenbach is a district of the city of Sangerhausen in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz .

Breitenbach is located away from the major traffic arteries in the southern Harz , about 15 km northwest of the district town of Sangerhausen .

Breitenbach belonged to the rule of the Counts of Stolberg and was a village in the Wolfsberg office of the Stolberg-Roßla county . In 1819 there were 273 residents in 49 houses.

From 1952 to 1990, Breitenbach belonged to the GDR district of Halle .

Until 2005, Breitenbach was a politically independent municipality. On October 1, 2005, it was incorporated into Sangerhausen.

There is a bus connection to the surrounding towns.
