Christian Heinrich Trosiener

Christian Heinrich Trosiener (born March 7, 1730 in Danzig , Polish Prussia , † January 17, 1797 in Stutthof near Danzig, West Prussia , Kingdom of Prussia ) was a merchant and councilor in Danzig and the grandfather of the philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer .

The family on his father's side came from the Duchy of Prussia . The father Christian Trosiener was a shoemaker in Old Scotland near Danzig, the mother was Anna Maria, née Kropp.

Christian Heinrich Trosiener became the first known merchant in the family. He traded mainly with cities such as Warsaw , St. Petersburg and Moscow , but also with Italy and France , where he was in Lyon for some time .

Christian Heinrich Trosiener had been a member of the fishing guild since 1764 and its first quartermaster from 1776. He was also a member of the grocer's guild and at times its chairman. As a member of the Third Order , the representative of the middle class, Trosiener became a member of the city council of Gdansk and held several functions in commissions responsible for school, construction and financial matters. He was also head of the Johanniskirche, in which the family had a box.

From around 1763 Trosiener owned the turtle house in Heilige-Geist-Gasse 81 (today ul. Św. Ducha 111). In 1788 he leased the Stutthof estate near Danzig and sold the one in Danzig the following year.

Christian Heinrich Trosiener had been married to Elisabeth Lehmann, the daughter of the Danzig pharmacist Georg Lehmann, since 1763. They had a son and several daughters, including one
