Christian Karl zu Rantzau

Christian Karl Heinrich Ludwig Graf zu Rantzau (born September 23, 1830 in Hohenhain, today Schwedeneck , † July 4, 1878 in Oppendorf, today Schönkirchen ) was a German landlord and member of the Prussian manor house.

Life

Christian zu Rantzau came from the house of Oppendorf of the Schleswig-Holstein nobility family ( Equites Originarii ) Rantzau . He was a son of Christian Wilhelm Heinrich zu Rantzau (1796–1848) on Danish-Nienhof and his wife Ottilie Agathe Louise Sophie, geb. von Reventlow (1800–1883), a sister of Christian Andreas Julius , Heinrich , Ernst Christian and Friedrich von Reventlou . Heinrich Adelbert and Kuno zu Rantzau were his younger brothers.

With the death of his father he became entrant owner of the family entrepre- neurship Oppendorf with Schönhorst (together 958 hectares).

After the incorporation of Schleswig-Holstein into the Kingdom of Prussia and the formation of the province of Schleswig-Holstein , the Prussian King Wilhelm I appointed him on November 16, 1867 together with Eugen von Reventlow as a member of the Prussian manor for life.

Since March 13, 1864 he was married to Marie (born November 9, 1841; † 1914), daughter of the Privy Councilor of State Otto Friedrich von Lilienfeld-Toal (1796-1870) on Hallick in Livonia . Of the couple's children, the eldest son Heinrich (* August 1, 1871, † July 15, 1947) took over Oppendorf.
