Christian Kopp

Christian Kopp (born October 1964 in Regensburg ) is a Protestant clergyman and has been a regional bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church for Munich and Upper Bavaria as senior church councilor in the Munich church district since December 2019 .

Life

Christian Kopp was born in 1964 as the son of a deacon in Regensburg and spent his childhood in Rummelsberg and Garmisch-Partenkirchen . Kopp completed his studies in Munich , Erlangen , Bern and Tübingen . After his vicariate in Brunnenreuth in the dean's office in Ingolstadt, Kopp headed the communication initiative of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Bavaria together with the Rosenheim dean Hanna Wirth from 2000 .

From 2003 to 2012 Kopp was pastor at St. George's Church in Nuremberg-Kraftshof , from September 2013 until his move to Munich he was dean in the dean's district of Nuremberg-South and second pastor in the Nuremberg St. Peter parish . On December 1, 2019, Kopp succeeded Susanne Breit-Keßler as senior church councilor and regional bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Munich church district. He is responsible for 150 Protestant parishes and almost 500,000 Christians.

Christian Kopp is married to pastor Julia Rittner-Kopp, who holds a pastor's position in the St. Johannis parish of Nuremberg . The couple have two grown children.
