Christian Millau

Christian Millau [ mijo ] (born December 30, 1928 in Paris ; † August 5, 2017 ) was a French gastronomy critic , journalist and author .

Life

From 1949 Millau (real name Christian Dubois-Millot ) wrote for the newspaper Le Monde in the field of domestic politics. He later worked for the French evening newspaper "Paris-Presse", where he met Henri Gault (1929–2000). Both devoted themselves to culinary topics. The Paris restaurant guide Guide Juillard, first published in 1962, developed from this . From 1969 Gault and Millau published the Gault-Millau restaurant guide .

Millau and Gault coined the term nouvelle cuisine together with their friend André Gayot (* 1929) around 1972 . 1986 Gault left Gault Millau .
