Christian Seifert

Christian Seifert (born May 8, 1969 in Rastatt ) is a German business manager . From 2004 to 2005 he was CEO of KarstadtQuelle New Media AG. Since 2005 he has been chairman of the management board of the German Football League and, in this function, also vice-president of the DFB , and since 2007 a member and spokesman of the league board since 2019. In addition, he acts as Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the DFL Foundation and as spokesman for the Profisport Deutschland Initiative (IPD).

Life and work

Seifert received his Abitur in 1988 at the technical high school in Rastatt. From 1991 to 1995 he studied communication science, marketing and sociology at the University of Essen . From 1995 to 1998 Seifert worked for the MGM MediaGruppe in Munich , where he was promoted to Head of Product Management. From 1998 to 2000 Seifert was Director Marketing in Central Europe for MTV Networks . From 2000 to 2005 Seifert was on the board of KarstadtQuelle New Media AG; from 2004 he was chairman of this board.

Career as a football official

In February 2005, Seifert became a member of the management of DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga GmbH and succeeded Wilfried Straub as Chairman of the Management Board on July 1, 2005 and, in accordance with the statutes, as Vice President of the DFB. In the management of the DFL, Seifert is responsible for strategic direction, among other things. On August 7, 2007 he also became a member of the league board of the DFL's parent club. When Reinhard Rauball gave up his office as President of the Executive Board in 2019, it was decided to abolish the office and instead elect Seifert as spokesman for the Presidium. In 2009 Seifert was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bundesliga Foundation. Since November 2009 he has been spokesman for the IPD Initiative Profisport Deutschland. In his youth Seifert played for FC Rastatt 04 in the association league.
