Christian Sheka Kargbo

Christian Sheka Kargbo (* 10. November 1953 in Gbendembu , Sierra Leone) is a Sierra Leonean diplomat in retirement .

education

Kargbo graduated from the University of Sierra Leone with a degree in Agriculture in 1976 before earning a PhD in Economics and Management from Illinois State University eight years later .

Kargbo was a consultant on agro-industrial projects for the AKP Group at the World Bank between 1983 and 1985 before moving to the University of Manitoba in Canada as Professor of Economics . In 1987 Kargbo returned to Sierra Leone and accepted a professorship at the University of Sierra Leone. At the same time he held the post of director of the Bank of National Development until 1988 and acted as an advisor to the Bank of Sierra Leone . As founding president of the Society for Research and Development , Kargbo was primarily responsible for the financing of banks in Africa and Europe until 1995. At the same time he was a consultant for the structural adjustment program of the European Union .

Kargbo moved to his first political office in 1996 as State Secretary for Development Planning and Economics and took on the leading task of reintegrating veterans of the civil war in Sierra Leone . Between 1997 and 1998 Kargbo was governor of the Sierra Leonean National Bank , before he switched again as an advisor to the World Bank in 2000.

From October 20, 2008, Kargbo took over the post of Ambassador to the European Union and Belgium in Brussels and was also accredited to the Holy See . In 2013 he resigned from office and returned to Sierra Leone.
