Christian Somogyi

Christian Somogyi (born December 1, 1956 in Kassel ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He is mayor of the Hessian Mittelstadt Stadtallendorf .

Life

Since 1959 his family lived in Niederklein , which was incorporated into the then town of Allendorf in 1974. Christian Somogyi trained as a machine fitter, while he was working, he graduated from the evening school in Marburg in 1986 . He did his military service with the 63rd Panzer Battalion in Stadtallendorf.

Since 1979 he worked at Fraport or the predecessor company as a project manager. For example, he was the employer's representative there in matters relating to severely disabled Fraport employees. For Fraport he was chairman of the company forum for more integration of disabled people in business , which belongs to the pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim .

Christian Somogyi is married and has three children.

Political career

For the SPD, Christian Somogyi sat in the city council and a local council of Stadtallendorf. In the mayoral election in 2005 Somogyi ran against the long-time incumbent Manfred Vollmer ( CDU ), but lost the election in a runoff election with 48.5 percent. Vollmer retired in 2012. In the mayoral election in September 2011 there was also a runoff election, which Somogyi won in October 2011 against the CDU candidate Pierre Brandenstein with 52.56 percent of the vote and a turnout of 50.59 percent. Somogyi took office in March 2012.
