Christian Vitzthum von Eckstädt (civil servant)

Christian Vitzthum von Eckstädt († October 9, 1694 ) was an Electoral Saxon civil servant. He was chamberlain and captain of the Kurkreis in Wittenberg .

Life

He came from the noble family Vitzthum von Eckstädt and was the youngest son of the Quedlinburg monastery governor Christoph Vitzthum von Eckstedt . His mother was Sophia geb. Rooster. He also had several older brothers, including Christoph Vitzthum von Eckstädt , with whom there would later be long-term disputes over his father's inheritance.

Christian Vitzthum von Eckstädt embarked on an administrative career in the service of the Wettins at the Dresden court. He became chamberlain in Dresden and district chief in Wittenberg.

At an advanced age, Christian Vitzthum von Eckstädt married the rich widow of Albrecht Christian von Kromsdorf († 1684), to whom his extensive possessions had fallen and who mostly sold them at a profit.

He had only one son, whom he named after his father Christoph Vitzthum von Eckstädt and who became his universal heir.
