Christian Wegscheider

Christian Wegscheider (born September 30, 1965 ) is an Austrian jazz pianist , organist and composer .

Career

Wegscheider learned piano at the Innsbruck Music School and studied from 1987 to 1993 at the Graz University of Music . He graduated with a concert diploma in jazz piano and instrumental vocal pedagogy in piano. He then lived for two years in New York , where he took lessons from Garry Dial and performed in clubs.

Together with the bass player Andy Mayerl, the musician published the twelve-volume series of textbooks Jazz Club: Jazz spielend Learn at Edition Dux in 2012 , which was awarded the Best Edition Prize of the German Music Publishers Association in the same year . In 2014 his concert for jazz trio and orchestra was premiered with the Tyrolean Symphony Orchestra Innsbruck .

Currently (2016) Wegscheider is teaching jazz piano at the Mozarteum Salzburg and the Innsbruck Music School in addition to his work as a freelance musician and composer . He is also chairman of the Ton Art Tirol association , which promotes jazz and improvised music. He works u. a. together with Willi Resetarits and often appeared as a member of the Pepe Linhard Band with Udo Jürgens .

Wegscheider lives in Wiesing .
