Christian Weissenberger

Christian Weißenberger (born August 31, 1965 , in Waldshut ) is a German doctor who specializes in radiation therapy and radiation oncology . He is considered one of Germany's cancer experts. In 2016 he was accepted by the "Leading Medicine Guide" portal as a selected expert in the field of radiation therapy and radiation oncology.  

Career

Weißenberger grew up in Klettgau. After graduating from the Klettgau-Gymnasium in Waldshut-Tiengen in 1985, he studied human medicine at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg from 1988 to 1994 . He received his doctorate with “magna cum laude” and the topic “Multidrug Resistance (MDR and π-GST) in solid human tumors”. From 1995 he worked as an intern (AiP) in the Department of Psychosomatic and Psychotherapeutic Medicine at the Psychiatric University Clinic in Freiburg. From 1996 to 2003 Weißenberger worked as an assistant doctor at the Clinic for Radiation Medicine at the Freiburg University Medical Center, before becoming a specialist in radiation therapy / radiation oncology, working as a senior physician and completing his habilitation at the University of Freiburg in 2006. From 2007 to 2008 he was a specialist and senior physician at the Heidelberg University Hospital, and from 2008 to 2012 senior physician at the Tübingen University Hospital.  

In Freiburg im Breisgau he has been running the Freiburg Radiotherapy Center since 2012. Weißenberger's therapeutic range of services includes tumor radiation therapy for breast and prostate cancer, cancer of the urinary tract, lung cancer, cancer of the gastrointestinal tract, ENT and brain tumors, metastatic cancer and radiation therapy for chronic, inflammatory or degenerative diseases.  

As a radiation expert, he has appeared in magazines and journals such as Die Welt , Freizeit Spass , Neue Post , Ok! Magazine and Promipool appear. Among other things, interviews were published by him in connection with different types of cancer and topics.    

Weißenberger organizes the "Freiburg Health Race" once a year, with which he wants to draw attention to the importance of sport in preventing cancer. The 2016 sports event was supported by three celebrities who all have a connection to the disease: the actors Thorsten Nindel and Patrick G. Boll as well as professional soccer player Benjamin Köhler .
