Reign of Pförten
The rule of Pförten was a state rule in Niederlausitz on both sides of the Lusatian Neisse around the city of Pförten . It existed from the 13th century to 1945 and was ruled together with the Forst dominion for most of the time . Today the area lies in the Lubusz Voivodeship in Poland and in the state of Brandenburg .
history
Pförten was first mentioned in 1398. In 1454 the town and the rule of King Ladislav I of Bohemia were given to the von Bieberstein family , who were already in the possession of the Forst rule. These were free class lords that could be governed relatively independently of the Bohemian crown.
In 1635 they came under Saxon rule and were incorporated into the Gubenische Kreis . In 1667 Count Ulrich Hipparchus von Promnitz received the rule of Pförten. Since then it has been separate from the Forst rulership. In 1740 Heinrich Graf von Brühl , the most important minister in Electoral Saxony, bought the rule and reunited it with the rule of Forst in 1748.
In 1815 the rule of Forst-Pförten and Niederlausitz became part of the Kingdom of Prussia and in 1816 it was incorporated into the new districts of Sorau and Guben . However, it continued to exist as a rule in the possession of the von Brühl family until 1945.
