Christian Wendt (historian)

Christian Wendt (* 1976 in Berlin ) is a German ancient historian .

Life

Wendt studied history, law and journalism and received his doctorate in 2006 from the Free University of Berlin under Ernst Baltrusch with a thesis on Roman foreign policy. Since 2009 he has headed the research project The (powerlessness) of the fittest. Thucydides and the interpolitical order at the Friedrich Meinecke Institute . From 2013 to 2018 he was junior professor for ancient history at the Free University of Berlin . Since the summer semester of 2018 he has been teaching as a W2 professor for ancient history at the Ruhr University Bochum . His research focuses on ancient international law, foreign policy, constitutional issues, and historiography.
