Monika Schuol

Monika Schuol (born January 13, 1964 in Detmold ) is a German ancient historian .

Monika Schuol graduated from high school in 1983 and studied Protestant theology / biblical archeology , ancient history, ancient Near Eastern studies , Near Eastern antiquity and Eastern European history at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen , the University of Konstanz , the Free University of Berlin (FU) and at the Church University Berlin . In 1992 she received her master's degree in ancient oriental studies in Tübingen. From 1993 she completed her doctoral studies at the University of Kiel , where she worked with Josef Wiesehöfer in 1998 on the subject of Die Charakene . In the summer semester 2013 she was visiting professor at the Free University of Berlin. In addition, since 2010 she has held various positions as a research assistant at the Free University of Berlin, the University of Kiel and (since 2017) the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt .

Her research interests include the ancient oriental and ancient music history , Homer , the Roman Empire , Parthian history and Judaism in antiquity.
