Christian Wolff (pastor)

Christian Wolff (born November 14, 1949 in Düsseldorf ) is a retired Evangelical Lutheran pastor , most recently at the Thomaskirche in Leipzig , and a German author.

Life

Wolff was born the son of graphic designer Kurt Wolff . From 1960 he attended the Max Planck Gymnasium in Düsseldorf and then began studying Protestant theology at the Kirchliche Hochschule Wuppertal in 1968 , which he continued in 1969 at the Ruprecht Karls University in Heidelberg . In 1970 Wolff joined the SPD and in 1973/74 he was AStA chairman at the University of Heidelberg.

After the vicariate he worked from 1977 to 1992 as a pastor in the Union Church in Mannheim. From 1992 until his retirement in 2014 he was pastor at the Thomaskirche in Leipzig, in 1998 he became the first pastor and head of the parish office.

He is chairman of the Foundation Canons of St. Thomae and was a member of the forum thomanum Leipzig e. V. before. Now he is chairman of the board of trustees of forum thomanum. Until 2009 he was a member of the board of trustees of the Friends of the Synagogue and Meeting Center Leipzig e. V., until 2016 member of the board of directors of the Neue Bachgesellschaft e. V. and until 2014 board member of the Thomaskirche-Bach 2000 e. V.

In 2014 Wolff was the initiator of “Welcome to Leipzig - a cosmopolitan city of diversity”, which campaigns against Legida . Since his retirement he has also worked as an advisor for church, politics and culture and runs a blog www.wolff-christian.de/blog.

Wolff is widowed twice.
