Christiane Wartenberg , b. Stoll (born October 27, 1956 in Prenzlau ) is a German athlete . She won the silver medal in the 1500 meter run for the GDR at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow . Her time of 3: 57.71 minutes was the GDR record and a valid German record (as of April 2018). She started for SC Neubrandenburg (trainer: Walter Gladrow ) and from 1976 for SC Chemie Halle (trainer: Bernd Lansky ).

With a height of 1.70 m, she had a competition weight of 53 kg.

In 1980 Christiane Wartenberg was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.

She began performance training in 1970 at the children's and youth sports school in Neubrandenburg. Until 1973 she was also successful on the 800-meter course (GDR junior champion). In 1977 she married Frank Wartenberg (bronze medal in the long jump at the 1976 Olympic Games ). In 1981 she had a daughter (Anne). After finishing her sports career, Christiane Wartenberg studied sports science and worked as a district sports teacher in Wittenberg . In 1986 she gave birth to twins, two girls (Jennifer and Janine). She later became the head of a child and youth facility in Wittenberg. She now works as a social worker in the general social service (youth welfare office) in Lutherstadt Wittenberg.
