Oerie is a district of the Lower Saxony town of Pattensen in the Hanover region . The place is in the Calenberger Land about 20 km south of Hanover .

history

Oerie is one of the oldest places in the Pattensen area. The roots go back to the first half of the 1st millennium. However, as with most other places, documentary evidence does not appear until centuries later. In the oldest tradition from 1033, Oerie Oride is mentioned.

As a rural settlement and because of its remote location, Oerie did not play a significant role in the conflicts of the past centuries and was therefore able to preserve its image of courtyards. Large farms developed through the rich farms.

A notable event from the Second World War is a bomber crash in 1944. On November 26, 1944, a four-engine American bomber crashed behind the Oerier Forest, killing all crew members. The B24 bomber was on its return flight after an attack on the hydrogenation works in Hanover-Misburg.

The town center, which is designated as an area of historical interest, has largely been spared from annoying new buildings. Due to the structural change in agriculture (cultivation of larger areas by fewer farms), some farms are no longer farmed and only serve as residential buildings. (As of 2015).

On March 1, 1974, Oerie was incorporated into the city of Pattensen.

politics

Oerie has a local council that shares with Hüpede.

Local mayor is Marion Kimpioka (SPD).

coat of arms

The coat of arms of Oerie was valid until the territorial reform in 1974.
