Christina Späti

Christina Späti (* 1971 in Zurich ) is a Swiss historian .

Life

Späti studied history and philosophy at the University of Freiburg in Freiburg im Üechtland and at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem , Israel (1993/94). After graduating in 1997, she worked as a diploma and doctoral assistant. In 2004 she became lecturer for contemporary history at the Department of Historical Sciences at the University of Freiburg in Freiburg im Üechtland. From 2001 to 2002 she was a scholarship holder of the Swiss National Science Foundation at the Center for Research on Antisemitism (ZfA) at the Technical University of Berlin. In 2003 she was awarded the dissertation The Swiss Left and Israel. Enthusiasm for Israel, solidarity in Palestine and anti-Semitism between 1967 and 1991 for Dr. phil. PhD. From 2003 to 2006 she was a research assistant with Urs Altermatt (project: "Universities as social laboratories. The history of bilingualism at the University of Freiburg"). In 2006 she held a lectureship at the Sociological Institute of the University of Zurich . From 2006 to 2008 she was co-director of the project “Language and Identity Politics” ( NRP 56). In 2008/09 she was a visiting scholar at the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada in Montréal. 2012 habilitation them with the work language as a political issue. A comparison of Switzerland and Canada since the 1960s . In 2014 she became an associate professor for contemporary history at the University of Freiburg.
