Christine van den Heuvel (* 1952 in Bad Rothenfelde ) is a German historian and archivist .
Life
Christine van den Heuvel studied history, German literature and philosophy at the University of Bochum from 1972 to 1978 until she passed her state examination. In 1981 she received her doctorate from the University of Bochum. 1982–1983 she was an archive trainee at the Osnabrück State Archives and the Marburg Archive School . Since then she has been working in the Lower Saxony archives: from 1983 to 2000 as a consultant in the main state archive in Hanover , from 2000 to 2002 as head of the Pattensen branch of the main state archive in Hanover , from 2002 to 2010 as deputy head of the main state archive in Hanover, from 2010 to 2012 as head of the central archive administration of the Lower Saxony State Archives and in the Archives Department of the Lower Saxony State Chancellery .
Since 2012 van den Heuvel has been the head of the central archive administration of the Lower Saxony State Archives and head of the Hanover branch. From January 2015 until her retirement at the end of July 2018, she was President of the Lower Saxony State Archives.
Her academic focus is on the history of Lower Saxony and the history of the early modern period .
