Christof Konrad

Christof Konrad ( Russian Кристоф Конрад ; * 1670s) was a German - Russian architect of the Baroque .

Life

As one of the first of I. Peter invited foreign architects Konrad came from Dresden to Moscow . There he began the construction of the arsenal of the Moscow Kremlin , where he was in contact with Russian architects, for example with Mikhail Ivanovich Choglokow .

Konrad went to St. Petersburg in 1715 . Together with Johann Friedrich Braunstein he built the Italian Palace (1720–1724) for Prince Alexander Danilowitsch Menshikov in Kronstadt . Under the direction of Domenico Trezzini , Konrad built the Church of the Annunciation and the Duchowski corpus as the first buildings of the Alexander Nevsky Monastery in St. Petersburg. In 1720 he was replaced by Leonard Theodor Schwertfeger .

Konrad returned to Moscow to build the arsenal. In 1731 he was released. The arsenal was completed by Johann Jakob Schumacher in 1731–1736 .
