Christof Veit

Christof E. Veit (born July 30, 1957 in the Black Forest ) is a German doctor and medical scientist. Since January 2015 he has headed the Institute for Quality Assurance and Transparency in Health Care (IQTIG).

Life

After studying medicine in Freiburg im Breisgau , London and Boston and an internship at the Karlsruhe City Hospital , Veit received his license to practice medicine in 1984 . After receiving his doctorate in 1985, he worked as an assistant doctor in further training in the urological department and the surgical department of the Altona General Hospital .

From 1990 to 1992 he was deputy head of the information and communication technology department at the Altona General Hospital, which he helped to set up. From 1992 until 2007 he headed the regional office EQS (External Quality Assurance) Hamburg. After he had acquired the qualification certificate "Medical Quality Management" according to the curriculum of the German Medical Association in 2002, he became the first examiner for this additional designation at the Hamburg Medical Association.

From 1996 to 2008 Veit was managing director of quant-GmbH. This service company of the Hamburg Hospital Society and the Hamburg Hospitals for the BQS Institute for Quality & Patient Safety in Düsseldorf and for a large part of the regional offices of External Quality Assurance was merged with the BQS Institute in 2008. From 2007 on he headed the business of the BQS Institute until he was appointed head of the recently founded Institute for Quality Assurance and Transparency in Health Care (IQTIG) in January 2015 .

Christof Veit is a founding member of the Society for Quality Management in Health Care (GQMG) . He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Patient Safety Action Alliance (APS) and is a member of the German Society for Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology (GMDS) and the German Society for Surgery (DGCH) .
