Christoph Asendorf
Christoph Asendorf (born January 22, 1955 in Brome ) is a German art historian and professor of art and art theory at the European University Viadrina .
Career
After Asendorf graduated from high school in Hanover in 1974 , he studied art history , German literature and history at the University of Heidelberg and the Free University of Berlin from 1975 to 1981 . He graduated with a Magister Artium . In 1984 he received his doctorate with the font Batteries of Life Force. On the history of things and their perception in the 19th century . He then worked as a freelance writer and participated in exhibitions. In 1988 he became a lecturer at the Berlin University of the Arts . From 1990 he worked as a research assistant and assistant to Bazon Brock at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal . In 1995 he completed his habilitation with the thesis Super Constellation - Airplane and Space Revolution - The Effect of Aviation on Modern Art and Culture . Asendorf has been Professor of Art and Art Theory at the European University Viadrina since 1996 . In the 2004/05 winter semester he was a visiting fellow at the International Research Center for Cultural Studies in Vienna. In 2008 he received the Martin Warnke Medal and the Aby Warburg Foundation Science Prize . In 2009/2010 he conducted research as a Senior Fellow at the International College for Cultural Technology Research and Media Philosophy at the Bauhaus University Weimar .
