Christoph Bonifacius Zang

Christoph Bonifacius Zang or Christoph Bonifaz Zang (* 1772 in Frickenhausen am Main ; † September 10, 1835 in Vienna ) was a German surgeon and contemporary of Emperor Franz II.

Zang studied medicine at the University of Vienna , where he received his doctorate in surgery . As a regimental physician , he was made a surgical professorship at the Josephinum (Vienna) in 1806 . He was a member of the Military Medical Commission. At his own request, he retired in 1834.

His depiction of bloody medical operations, which was published several times, was considered a valuable manual. A reprint appeared in 2011.
