Christoph Fundgrube (Vorderer Fastenberg)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Christoph was a tin mine in the Johanngeorgenstadt mountain area in the Saxon Ore Mountains .

location

On the Vorderen Fastenberg near the exile and mountain town of Johanngeorgenstadt , several pits were operated in the 17th century to mine directly adjacent ore veins . This also included the Christoph Fundgrube, awarded in 1676 . Here was tin mined after the treasure trove of Christopher Frauenstein, Johann Christoph Tränkner and Tränkner was taken into Lehn.

The tin mine was located in the Rats (Jugel- )wald, which at the time stretched between Jugelbach , Schwefelbach and the road leading from Johanngeorgenstadt via Steinbach to Eibenstock . The wood of this forest was almost completely used up by mining, so that the name has been almost completely forgotten today.

In 1682 the Christoph Fundgrube came to a standstill. Christoph Fraustein, after whose first name the mine was named and who lived in Schneeberger Gasse in Johanngeorgenstadt, later became miners' senior and assessor at the cut in the Johanngeorgenstadt Mining Authority.
