Christoph Gabriel

Christoph Gabriel (born September 30, 1967 ) is a German linguist ( Romance studies ).

Life

From 1991 to 1997 he studied French ( TU Berlin ) and music ( Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover , Hochschule der Künste Berlin ) (1997 first state examination (music and French)). He completed his doctoral studies (1997-2000) at the Technical University of Berlin (funded by a graduate scholarship from the State of Berlin) in 2000 with his dissertation (Technical University of Berlin). From 2000 to 2006 he was a research assistant (C1) for Romance Linguistics at the University of Osnabrück . In July 2006 he held the inaugural lecture at the Department of Linguistics and Literature Studies in Osnabrück and thus the formal conclusion of the habilitation process ( venia legendi Romance Linguistics ). In the 2006/2007 winter semester he was a lecturer at the Institute for Romance Studies at the University of Hamburg . From April 2007 he was Professor (W2) for Spanish and French Linguistics in Hamburg . In July 2009 he turned down the offer of a W3 professorship in Romance Linguistics at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen . From September 2009 he stayed in Hamburg and switched to the W3 professorship in Romance Linguistics . In January 2015, he was offered a W3 professorship in Romance Linguistics (Hispanic Studies ) at the University of Bremen (rejected) and a W3 professorship in Romance Linguistics (Spanish and French) at the University of Mainz . From October 2015 he will be Professor of Romance Linguistics (Spanish and French) at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz .
