Christoph Grohmann

Christoph Grohmann (born May 8, 1955 in Bielefeld ) is a German church musician , organ teacher and concert organist .

life and work

Grohmann played public concerts at the age of 13. He studied 1974-80 with Helmut Tramnitz at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold (church music A- and concert exam for organ ) and in 1979 and 1980 took part in organ masterclasses with Flor Peeters in Mechelen , Belgium . He worked as a deanery church musician at St. Clemens in Rheda and as a teacher at the Detmold University of Music and currently leads organ classes in Bremen and Herford (organ literature play and improvisation).

Since 1989 he has also been working as a freelance organ teacher and giving concerts internationally. His interpretations were documented by radio recordings. He belongs (2017) to the main committee of the Society of Organ Friends (GdO). The focus of his work is the performance of works from the 19th and early 20th centuries as well as works for organ and orchestra , as well as improvisation on liturgy themes .
