Johann Christoph Haizmann (also Haizmann * 1651 / 1652 in Traunstein , † 14. March 1700 in the Convention Neustadt an der Mettau / Nove Mesto nad Metuji in Bohemia) was an Austrian painter and alleged Teufelsbündler .

Due to a devil's pact that was first entered into in 1668, the journeyman painter had to undergo several expulsions of devils in the pilgrimage site of Mariazell . In 1681 Haitzmann professed as a Merciful Brother in Vienna .

Haitzmann became famous in the 20th century through the analysis of his case by Sigmund Freud, documented in a manuscript ( Trophaeum Mariano-Cellense ) from the 18th century : A Devil's Neurosis in the Seventeenth Century (first in: Imago , 1923).
